Alfred Huber - Composer

Curriculum VitaeAlfred Huber was born in Linz in 1962.
At the age of eight he took up piano lessons at the Music School of the City of Linz.

After graduation in 1981, first he studied at the Vienna University Medical School.
During the last years of his medical studies he again took up piano lessons at a music school in Vienna and at the same time studied composition and theory of music with professor Waldeck of Buckner Conservatory Linz.

After he graduated from the Vienna University in 1987 he started his education in neurosurgery at the Upper Austria Neurosurgical Clinic in Linz. Also, he continued his studies with Prof. Waldek.
In 1992 he moved to Feldlkirch, Vorarlberg. He met Prof. Herbert Willi of the Conservatory of Feldkirch, Vorarlberg. He studied jazz arrangement with Prof. Jakob Ströher of Feldkirch Conservatory.

In 1994 he became a regular student of composition at Feldkirch Conservatory, in 1996 he moved to Kempten, Allgäu, but continued to study in Vorarlberg.
During the period between 1994 ? 2001 he wrote compositions for various arrangements, from those for solo instruments to those for symphony orchestras.

In 1997 and 1998, the "Texte und Töne" (Texts and Tones) show at the Vorarlberg/ORF Regional Studio provided the setting for his performances and premieres of the 1st String Quartet by Camerataquartett Vorarlberg, Brass Quintet by Sonus Brass, and Woodwind Quintet by Amariaquintett.
He performed in various radio shows, among others Zeitton Ö1, A Portrait of an Artist.

In 1999 he was awarded the Richard Wagner Prize for the Vorarlberg Region.
In 2000 his Miserere for the Trumpet and Chamber Orchestra was premièred by the Tyrol Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra in Innsbruck.
In 2001 he finished his studies of composition at the Vorarlberg Conservatory (under Prof. Herbert Willi).
