| Artistic experience | Robert Sedlak is a specialist for concert and oratorio repertoire. He was a member of the Viennese Arnold Schönberg Chorus, where he worked with conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Seji Ozawa and appeared as a chorus soloist in New York and at the Salzburg Festival. As a soloist he sings german masterpieces like J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio or the oratorios of F. Mendelssohn as well as italian repertoire like G. Rossinis Petite Messe Solennelle or G. Verdis Requiem. Robert Sedlak has appeared as a soloist in major concert halls like the Kölner Philharmonie, the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Musikhalle Hamburg and Aachens's famous cathedral. He has worked with important orchestras like the Bochum Symphonic Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphonic Orchestra and Concert Royal Cologne. Robert Sedlak regularly performs contemporary church music (A. Heiller, P. Planyavsky, J Ebenbauer) and has participated in a series of concerts and a CD production together with the "Klangforum Wien" where he worked with Hans Zender, Beat Furrer and composer Helmut Lachenmann. He has participated in several live radio and TV productions and appears in live CD-recordings of W. Mozart's Requiem (with original instruments) with the Viennese Ensemble Polyhymnia and of J.Haydn's Paukenmesse with Erwin Ortner. |
| Education | Born in Mödling, Austria, Robert Sedlak already at an early age received piano and clarinet lessons. He then entered the Viennese Conservatory to study Voice with Frank Kubik and Margaret Zimmermann. The tenor participated in Master Courses by Jean Pierre Blivet (voice instructor of Nathalie Dessay, France) and Kurt Widmer (Switzerland) and received coachings by American Tenor Thomas Moser. During the last years he was studying with the American soprano Carol Byers and Baritone Helmut Kolvenbach. At present he is working with Prof. Stewart Emerson. Robert Sedlak has also completed studies in cultural and media management and law. |
